What things should I bring?

We suggest that you bring the following items:

Sports & casual wear (about 1-2 sets per day)
Sports & casual footwear (1 pair of shoes for walking around the campsite, 1 pair of shoes for use during outdoor adventures & activities, 1 pair slippers/sandals for bathroom use, enough socks, etc.)
Enthusiasm (lots of these)
Humour (good, clean and sensible ones)
Stationery (eg. pen, paper, note book, pencil, etc.)
Toiletries (eg. toothbrush & paste, soap, towel, shampoo, etc.)
Water bottle

Things you MAY bring (if you have/need them):

Medication (doctor prescribed only) and/or vitamins
Pocket money
Torchlight (water resistant with fresh batteries and strap)
Sweet dream tools (eg. pillow, bolster, teddy bear)

When is the Check-In and Check-Out time?

Check-in at the sufes campsite is strictly after 2.00pm.
Check-out is strictly before 12.00 noon.

Why do I have to Check-Out before 12.00 noon?

The check-in/out times are set to allow our campsite staff sufficient time to prepare the facilities for the next group before they check-in.

Checking out early will help reduce the possibility traffic congestion at the entrance to the SUFES Campsite, especially when the next group arrives after 2.00pm.

Why do I have to Check-In after 2.00pm?

The check-in/out times are set to allow our campsite staff sufficient time to prepare the facilities for the next group before they check-in.

Checking in later will help reduce the possibility traffic congestion at the entrance to the SUFES Campsite, especially when the previous group leaves before 2.00pm.

What do I do after I Check-Out by 12.00 noon?

Check-out means that you clear your accommodation and facilities used of your belongings so that the campsite staff can prepare them for the next group to use them.

After check-out, please proceed to the dining hall for your lunch before you leave the SUFES Campsite for home.

What do I do if I arrive before 12.00 noon?

It is good that you plan your travelling ahead of time. by bus, it usually takes about 2.5 hours from KL, 1 hour from Ipoh, and 2 hours from Penang.

If some how you arrive ahead of time, you could:

Explore or have your lunch in tapah town
Drop by Lata Kinjang
Go past the SUFES Campsite to take a break at Hutan Rekreasi Kuala Woh, which is only 3km away

Is smoking allowed at the SUFES Campsite?

Strictly NO!

The SUFES Campsite is a smoke-free area (except smokes from food-related sources like BBQ).

So, if you are a smoker, please refrain from smoking for the entire duration of your time there. Use a nicotine patch or other substitutes. We respect you as a person, so please respect us for our decision to make the SUFES Campsite a healthier place for all.

Is the SUFES Campsite safe?

The SUFES Campsite is definitely safe. We have staff stationed on-site 24 hours a day whenever there is a camp, in addition to our general workers who are present during the day.

The local authorities are aware of our presence and activities, and occassionally, they drop by to ensure the safety of the campers.

All activities at the SUFES Campsite are conducted by experienced staff and associates. We have good rapport with our immediate neighbours, especially the orang asli kampung (village) nearby.

Since we started operations, no major injuries nor accidents have occurred at the SUFES Campsite. We thank God for this, and also appreciate the continued cooperation of the campers in maintaining it as "The Place for Fun and Adventure!".

Where is the nearest medical centre/hospital from SUFES Campsite?

The government hospital and a number of private clinics are in tapah town itself, about 10 minutes drive away only. Their contact numbers may be obtained from our SUFES Campsite supervisor.

What is SUFES Campsite direct contact no?

For emergencies, call the SUFES Campsite office at 05 4272 810. Use this number for emergencies only.

There is currently no mobile phone service in the SUFES Campsite area. Occasionally, you may get an sms or two, and even receive/make short calls, but these are unpredictable. The ideal scenario would be to keep your handphones off. You're supposed to be at play, and not at work, remember?

Can my children go for Night Hike and Stream Trotting?

Yes! Definitely! Our outdoor adventures and activities are suitable for all age groups. Our experienced staff will tailor the activities accordingly.

I'm an experienced camper. Can I take a group to the Jump Pool Trek without your guide/instructor?

All groups staying at the SUFES Campsite are required to engage our staff as guides/instructors for each adventure and activity. This is to ensure the safety of all participants.

Participants are to follow all instructions given by the guides/instructors. Rules were made for safety and protection.

Toilet rolls will be provided. Please bring your own toiletries (toothbrush/paste, soap, towels, etc.).

There is a limited flow of hotwater to the bathrooms.

FAQs - Meal Arrangements

What is the meal arrangements like?

The SUFES Campsite practices a "self-service" concept at the SUFES Campsite. Besides serving food, we believe it is a good practice for campers to also wash their own plates and cups (and whatever else they use). So, please assign duty groups to help wipe the tables and chairs, and sweep the floor, etc. before/after meals.

Please also assign a group of 3-4 persons per meal to help dish out the food in the first round. Our caterer will be present to instruct how much to give.

The food will be served "cafeteria" style (sort of buffet). The first round, everyone will have a share. After everyone has had a share, then if they need, they can come back for second/third/etc round until all the food is finished!

All cutlery will be provided - fork and spoons, cups, plates, etc. (remember to wash these after use. thank you!)

Will there be any water provided throughout the day in the canteen?

Boiled drinking water will be provided 24 hours a day.

I have a small budget for meals. Can I rent your kitchen to cook my own meals?

In our experience, we find that the quality of food is a major factor for campers to grade their camp. If the accommodation or program is not up to the campers' expectations, but the food quality is good, the camp will turn out to be a positive experience for them. If the accommodation or program is great, but the food is bad, the camp will usually leave a negative impression.

With this in mind, the SUFES Campsite engages quality cooks who provide quality food at affordable rates. We believe that you will find a menu that will suit your budget.

May I check-in with lunch?

Groups usually check-in with dinner, and check-out with lunch.

For the time being, in view of our limited space, it will be difficult to accommodate additional groups checking-in with lunch. We strongly advise that you arrange to have your own lunch before your check-in to the SUFES Campsite.

May I check-out without lunch?

Groups usually check-out with lunch.

However, if you plan to check-out earlier, special arrangements for your last lunch may be made. For example, we may pack lunch for you to take home, or have it on the way home; or compensate by your other meals.

FAQs - Conferencing Facilities

Are white board markers be provided? How many of those markers? What colors?

Yes, these are provided as part of the audio-visual set. So, if you book the av set, then about 2-3 whiteboard markers and an eraser will be provided. The usual colors are black, blue and red.

Are tables provided?

At the meeting hall, there are usually 2 tables available - 1 large, 1 small. There should be a table at the amphitheater too. These tables are usually used for registration and display/OHP purposes.

If you really require extra tables, please check with the SUFES Campsite supervisor.

Is there air-conditioning in the Meeting Halls?

The meeting halls are air-conditioned but campers have the option of utilising the air-conditioners or not. Different charges apply.

FAQs - Accommodation

Mattresses will be provided, but not the pillow cases, bedsheets and blankets. Am I right?

For those staying in the rooms and dormitory, mattresses, bedsheets, pillows, and pillow cases will be provided. Campers are advised to bring their own sleeping bags/mats if they are using the pavilions and tents. All campers are to bring their own blankets or warm clothing for the night. Sometimes, it can be very cold, especially in the middle of the night (between midnight and sunrise).

Do you have air-conditioning in the rooms and dormitory?

We currently do not have air-conditioners in the rooms or dormitory but this will be taken into consideration for the next upgrade exercise.

How do I organize the campers into the respective accommodation types?

It is our usual practice to run an entire camp using the same type of accommodation for all campers, whenever possible. This means that all campers will either stay in the tents (or rooms). Putting the boys in the tents and girls in the rooms may raise issues of unfairness - some girls may want experience staying in the tents, or boys in the rooms.

We also put campers from the same group into the same type of accommodation (separated by gender, of course). The boys in the same group will stay in the same tent (or room or pavilion). Likewise for the girls. This will give them more opportunity to know each other better.

It is also advisable for camp officers or facilitators to also be in the same accommodation type as their groups. This is also a matter of fairness and experience. We live by example, telling our campers that we have done and experienced in camp what we now tell them to do and experience.

Will I be charged if I were to reduce my accommodation?

Our current practice allows applicants to make unlimited changes to their SUFES Campsite bookings if more than sixty (60) days notice is given in writing, subject to availability if additional accommodation is required.

Any reduction in accommodation made within sixty (60) days from your camp will incur cancellation charges.

The following charges apply:

21-60 days' notice
The booking deposit remains unchanged and is utilised entirely as payment for the first day. The subsequent days are charged according to the amend pax.

Less than 21 days' notice
Charges will be as per original pax booked for the entire duration.

Terms & Conditions

Campers using the SUFES Campsite are doing so at their own risk. The SUFES Campsite Management, SUFES Campsite Sdn. Bhd., their staff and representatives will not be held responsible for any injuries, damages and losses suffered by the campers during their stay at the SUFES Campsite.

Gambling, smoking, consuming of alcoholic beverages, taking of any drugs not prescribed by a licensed doctor, and other immoral activities are not allowed. Campers found violating this rule will have their stay terminated.

Campers are to use and handle all facilities, amenities, equipment, and environment with care, prudence, and consideration.

Cleanliness is to be maintained in the dormitory, rooms, toilets, meeting hall, amphitheater, kitchen, and compound at all times.

All damages are to be reported to the SUFES Campsite staff. Indemnity will need to be made, if necessary.

Booking deposit shall be the equivalent of the first full day's accommodation, facilities and meals arrangement for the no. of pax booked. (balance of full payment must be settled prior to group check-out.) All booking deposits are non-refundable but transferable, subject to the following conditions:

a. Cancellation fee equal to 100% of deposit if less than 60 days' notice is given.

b. No cancellation fee will be levied if more than 60 days' notice is given. However, the entire deposit must be used within 30 days of your reserved dates, or the earliest date available, subject to availability.

In the event of any reduction in the no. of pax, SUFES Camping Sdn. Bhd. must be advised at the earliest. The following charges apply:

a. More than 60 days' notice - Charges will be according to amended pax. any balance of the booking deposit for the first day shall be carried forward to the next day.

b. 21-60 days' notice - The booking deposit remains unchanged and is utilized entirely as payment for the first day. The subsequent days are charged according to the amended pax.

c. Less than 21 days' notice - Charges will be as per original pax booked for the entire duration of the camp.

The SUFES Campsite Management and SUFES Camping Sdn. Bhd. reserves the right to:

Allocate the use of the existing facilities should there be more than one group using the place.

Approve, reject or cancel any booking reservation, application or confirmation of any individual or group without giving any reasons; any deposits received will be refunded in full.

Make amendments to the rules, regulations, rates and other information without prior notice.

Outdoor Adventures

Stream Trotting

Time: Noon, around 2:00pm
Duration: Approx. 3hrs

Description
This outdoor adventure activity is fun, exciting and could be very challenging.

Campers would need to walk (about 15-20 minutes) from the SUFES Campsite to the starting point.

One would then hike through the clear, clean, cool stream, against many mini-rapids and waterfalls, enduring through challenging spots due to deeper waters.

The final destination is a fairly large waterfall, usually only accessed by locals and the orang aslis.

Stream trotting usually takes up to approximately 3 hours; depending on the size of group, the speed they move and the duration of time spent at the waterfall. This activity is usually conducted after lunch during mid noons at 2.00pm. a similar outdoor adventure to this would be the jump pool trek.

Note: It is compulsory that all participants to be soaking wet during the stream trotting! else, measures would be taken ensuring this!

Night Hike

Time: Night, around 9:00pm
Duration: Approx. 2hrs

Description
This is one of the most popular outdoor adventure activities available to campers staying at the sufes campsite.

This activity is conducted in the late evenings, around 9.00 pm. depending on the size of the group and their experience, the night hike usually takes up to approximately 2 hours.

Participants will experience a challenging up-and-down hill hike, completing the hike with a mini stream trotting along a clear, clean, cool stream which flows through the sufes campsite.

The night hike is especially exciting and challenging when it drizzles, with a wet landscape.

Exit the PLUS North-South Expressway at Tapah.

After the tollbooth, turn left at the traffic lights towards Cameron Highlands.

Look out for the 51 milestone.

After an approximate 3 minutes drive, you'll see this signboard on your left.

Located at the foothills along the road leading to Cameron Highlands, just off the Tapah toll, is a delightful 7.5 acre SUFES Campsite that will surprise you.

So close to urbanity, the SUFES Campsite is yet so far from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.

As the road meanders through lush forest greenery on either side, and you approach the sufes campsite, you leave the world behind you.

Suddenly, you are back to nature.
